The Dutch Harness Horse

The origin of this unique show horse is yet more than 100 years ago when the farmers in those days bred a horse which was used for work during the week and at Sunday in front of the carriage to go to the church or to visit the family. The more the horse showed pride in front of the carriage the more aspect the driver had. The modern Dutch Harness Horse is bred to shine at shows and driving competitions. With pride can be said that our Dutch Harness Horse is the show master of many horse events. Especially through the strict selection of the studbook and "the eye of the master" of our breeders this show horse is worldwide well-known. The Dutch Harness Horse has a trot with a very long movement of suspension, a broadly moving front leg with high knee action and a powerfully carrying hind leg, as well as a proud attitude enhanced by the long, vertically set neck. Furthermore it is a breed with much long-volume and a nature that is for the use of mankind.

The Gelders horse

The Gelders horse is an elegant built horse, founded on the formerly well-known Gelders type, which also is the foundation of the Dutch Harness Horse. But the Gelders horse has managed to keep this ground without portion with strange blood, like e.g. Hackney or Saddlebred. The Gelders horse has a rich front, plenty of bone and body, impressive, proud movements displaying great power and action from behind. The Gelders horse is suitable for versatile use, harnessed as well as under saddle and are characterized by their enthusiastic show performance and willing temperament. The Gelders horse: a versatile horse!
